Applicants under 20 hours/week will not be considered.Program InformationThe DC internship program is designed to give undergraduate students, graduate students, and young professionals the opportunity to serve our IJM Global Center. Interns participate in the ongoing work of protecting the rights of those subject to violent forms of oppression and human rights abuses.IJM internships offer a unique opportunity for professional development and spiritual growth. The program benefits those who plan to pursue various career paths, including public relations, law, Christian ministry, law enforcement, public policy, business, social work or general non-profit or international work. The program offers interns an opportunity to investigate their individual gifts and develop new skills while working at IJM’s Global Center.For many interns, the DC internship is a strategic step prior to attending graduate school or beginning a career. The positions are open to college and graduate students, recent college graduates, and young professionals in career transition.IJM North America is one of IJM’s five global regions. Our North America teams are responsible for all IJM operations in the United States and Canada, which includes strategies designed to activate and mobilize people of influence throughout the region to catalyze change and bring in revenue. North America regional interns support most important programs that advance IJM’s regional work to help bring rescue to millions.Positions Available:
- Corporate and Government Partnerships Communication Intern: The C&GP Communications Intern will support on various advocacy campaigns executed by the U.S. Corporate and Government partnerships team. Campaign support will include drafting web copy, emails, and social media posts. The intern will additionally help develop marketing materials, monitor press and media, and other projects as needed. Looking for someone with skills and experience in writing (web, email, technical) and editing (AP style), social media, media relations, attention to detail, Adobe Suite experience (a plus).
- Corporate and Government Partnerships Policy and Research Intern: (Preferably located in DC). Policy and Advocacy interns work directly with IJM’s U.S. Corporate and Government Partnerships team. Although tasks vary depending on the nature of the work in progress during the internship, interns can expect their tasks to include: Assisting with drafting and development of advocacy campaign materials, press release, white papers; Attending congressional hearings and other D.C.-based events relevant to IJM’s work; Conducting policy research; Assisting with event planning or execution of campaigns (ex. Advocacy Summit, TIP Report release, in-district meeting summer campaign, etc.); Managing IJM Advocacy inbox and responding to constituent queries; Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.
- Marketing and Communications Intern: This role will act as a central team player in Marketing & Communications as we build brand awareness and trust in IJM. You will exercise your skills in creativity, collaborative and communication to deliver engaging content for key channels (social, web, email, and more). You’ll have frontline access to the best of our stories and help amplify survivor voices through exceptional storytelling. Through this experience you’ll be embedded within a high-performing marketing and communications team, gaining valuable exposure to brand building and the creative process.
- Mobilization NYC Intern (Ideally located in NYC): This internship will involve helping to coordinate events and campaigns in NYC, including assisting with IJM’s involvement with the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon.
- Mobilization Chicago Intern: Our Chicago intern will help support the following: 1.) event preparation and execution, 2.) communications drafting, 3.) preparing presentations, 4.) prospect research, 5.) administrative support such as organizing documents in online folders and updating salesforce.
- Peer to Peer Mobilization Intern: Gain experience developing content for a large non-profit using brand guidelines. Write, design and create multimedia content for social media, within scheduled time frames, with a focus on video content for TikTok and Instagram. Support community engagement by responding to direct messages and comments on social media. Learn how to equip peer-to-peer fundraisers to advocate for the end of human trafficking. Work with the Mobilization Team to support the Dressember Audience as needed.
- Operations Intern: Rotational responsibilities to include internal communications, retreat planning, and project management coordination.
- Events & Marketing Partnerships Intern: Work with the North America Partnerships team on events and partnerships that are essential to fueling IJM’s growth. You’ll be an essential member of the team by supporting with event logistics, marketing projects, data and communications needs, and operations.
- Strategic Partnerships Intern: Join the Strategic Partnerships team to support our team that connects with major donors to share about the exciting things happening in our programs and how they might engage deeper. The SP intern would support on projects such as sending donor mailings, managing mass donor communications, coordinating donor materials, managing data integrity, coordinating event logistics, checking mail/mailing materials from headquarters. The SP intern would work alongside our Senior Associates or Sr Leads on different projects that provide varied exposure to the development world.
IJM’s Internship opportunities vary every session and look different in every office. Interns generally will assist a specific person or team. The positions involve the described tasks and responsibilities as well as other relevant duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.General Qualifications and Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree must be completed or in progress for this internship, and applicants need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.
