Together SIR and SIR Foundation have nearly 50 staff, combined annual revenues of $10 million, and assets of $18 million.Position SummarySIR is excited to bring on a Quality Intern to work with our staff and membership. This role will be a key member of the society’s Quality and Performance Improvement team, collaborating regularly with the staff and physician volunteers of the Quality and Performance Improvement division to drive forward the field of quality improvement in interventional radiology. In this role you will be responsible for data analysis projects and quality improvement activities that support SIR members in their quality improvement efforts within their practice settings. This is a remote position, with some flexibility in hours and days,15 hours per week for 12 weeks. The internship affords aspiring public health professionals with an excellent window into clinical quality improvement, implementation science, and data analytics, with an opportunity to identify and develop their own areas for growth. The ideal candidate for this position has a proficiency in data analytics and a foundational understanding of the principles of public health and health policy. The majority of hours will be scheduled on Monday and Friday with flexible scheduling.Primary Functions and Responsibilities:SIR seeks a Quality intern to work directly and collaboratively with our Quality and Performance Improvement Manager and Registry Operations Manager to —

  • Work with managers to plan and prepare reports, documents, slides, presentations, and other supporting information regarding metrics and analysis.
  • Work with managers to gather information, organize various documents, and provide status updates
  • Conduct data analysis projects, identifying trends and conducting statistical analysis.
  • Support the creation of quality improvement resources.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Master of Public Health, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent. May be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program.
  • Statistical knowledge and data analytics experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Skills and Experience Preferred

  • Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience with programming software, including SAS, SPSS, R, Python or STATA.
  • Proficiency with G Suite tools (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets)
