2025 Summer Intern, Disaster Management Consulting (FEMA)

As an intern, you will provide support to specific recovery projects and functions for the Division. You will also work alongside project teams, helping state and local clients administer United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and United States Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded programs. You will be exposed to a wide variety of experts across the firm including those who address issues related to infrastructure, disaster planning and recovery, financial literacy, energy efficiency, green building, and job training. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with talented and passionate individuals and to grow with a firm that believes in nurturing talent and developing long-term career success.Our 2025 Summer Internship is a 10-week, full-time program that generally begins in early June and concludes in mid-August. The internship can be fully remote from any U.S. location or hybrid from an ICF office depending on location/availability. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance.Responsibilities:Provide disaster recovery and grant monitoring services for the FEMA Public Assistance Programs and other federal Programs.Support disaster recovery program design and implementation and pre-disaster risk mitigation measures.Collect and process damage data, invoices, estimates, and documentation requests from ICF Clients, FEMA, Recipients, and sub-recipients.Conduct research for new funding opportunities and grant applications.Basic Qualifications:Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Emergency Management, Homeland Security or similar field (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later).Preferred Qualifications:Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program with an emphasis on Emergency Management, Homeland Security or similar field (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later).Prior experience as an intern focused on Disaster Management, FEMA or related areaExcellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skillsExperience conducting research, organizing, and analyzing informationExperience writing detailed guidance, proposals, and procedural materialsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilitiesData-entry experienceStrong time management skillsProficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)Our work is done in a professional, collegial, and intellectual environment that allows individuals to pursue their passions, grow their careers, and generate meaningful results on behalf of our clients.Working at ICFICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
