We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join us for our summer intern program. Interns will

work closely with their mentor to develop cutting edge bioinformatics tools and work with

biological datasets to address key questions related to oncology drug development. Projects include

benchmarking and development of a bulk RNA-seq in silico sorting framework, creating a Shiny

application for gene sets analysis and comparison, and generating an immune cell atlas for

scRNA-seq data.Responsibilities:

  • Examine large scale public resources such as TCGA, GTEx, and DepMap.
  • Develop robust processing and analysis frameworks/pipelines of publicly available datasets

across several platforms, including RNA-seq and scRNA-seq.

  • Benchmark algorithms and approaches to identify best methods for implementation.
  • Analyze various datasets to identify molecular markers of response or understand processes

relevant to immuno-therapy targets.

  • Present literature reviews and bioinformatics findings to various stakeholders, including

interdisciplinary teams and audiences.Qualifications:

  • An ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD program based

in the US in computational biology, cancer biology, cancer systems biology, statistics,

engineering, immunology, or related sciences.

  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • Fluent in R programming language. Understand Git and version control.
  • Experience in analyzing RNA-seq and scRNA-seq data.
  • Ability to work with raw data is a plus.
  • Familiarity with applying statistical and/or machine learning methods to high dimensional

datasets is a plus.

  • Experience writing pipelines which abstracts several parameters is an advantage.
  • This internship position is 40 hours per week located on our Hayward Campus or remote (only

Bioinformatics).

  • All applicants must be actively enrolled in an accredited academic program for Fall

2025.

  • As an Arcus intern, you will be employed as a temporary hourly employee.
  • Intern will be paid hourly less payroll deductions and all required tax withholdings.
