Interventional Oncology (INTO) is a cross-sector R&D organization working within J&J, charged by the Executive Committee with meaningfully altering the course of lung and adjacent cancers and improving survival by preventing, intercepting, and treating lung cancer and other solid tumor types.Join our summer internship program and drive groundbreaking research in Imaging and machine learning supporting Interventional Oncology. Successful candidate will have experience working with inter-disciplinary teams and generate clinically impactful Radiomics and Imaging AI innovations. As a member of the Imaging Data Science team, you will be able to leverage unique datasets to develop and validate analytics that can be used to predict clinical outcomes and contribute to improving the clinical developments of cancer therapies. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in medical imaging analysis. He/she will inform data annotation and conduct training and validation of advanced ML algorithms.Responsibilities:Working in collaboration with computational, biological, and clinical scientists across the J&J organization, responsibilities include but are not limited to:· Design, develop, and validate advanced ML algorithms for medical imaging data· Implement and deploy proof-of-concept ML models· Effectively communicate and present scientific results to team members and collaborators.Qualifications:· Ph.D. student in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or related programs.· Strong hands-on experience in the Python toolkit for data manipulation and machine learning (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, PyRadiomic).· Highly skilled in the implementation, finetuning and transfer learning of computer vision (CV) based deep neural networks (DNN)· Self-motivated with proven problem-solving skills· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent verbal and written English language skills prerequisite.Preferred Qualifications:· Experience in applying medical image analysis in a clinical setting.· Domain knowledge in one or more types of solid tumor (e.g., lung cancer)Working Arrangement:· This role is going to be onsite or fully remotePermanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
