Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST) is seeking a Summer Intern who will support the NRESS II (NASA Research and Education Support Services) contract working with the NSPIRES (NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System) IT team to help document and validate IT Security requirements.Candidates should familiarize themselves with NSPIRE before applying (https://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/). This is a hybrid telework position – candidates must be local to the DC metro area and able to attend in-person meetings in Crystal City, VA when requested.Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Interviews will take place via video on Microsoft Teams with candidates required to be on camera.Position Summary:

  • Work with the NSPIRES IT team to help document and support ongoing Assessment and Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities
  • Assist in vulnerability management by creating and monitoring security tickets
  • Work with the NSPIRES IT team to implement security controls
  • Assist with implementing automated security processes to ensure the efficiency of IT Security activities
  • Update IT security documentation when needed to support continuous monitoring activities (System Security Plans, Contingency Plan, Privacy Impact Assessment, etc.)
  • Communicate and identify gaps in internal and external processes

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Current Junior or Senior year student enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (not graduate)
  • No preferred field of study but coursework should include cybersecurity policies and risk management
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework
  • Strong English speaking and writing skills; Strong organization skills
  • Ability to work with a team to achieve a common goal; Ability to be self-motivated and able to take initiative to learn and solve problems
  • Ability to adapt to consistent process changes
  • Knowledge of NIST publication series particularly NIST 800-37 and NIST 800-53 Rev 5 is an advantage but not required
  • Knowledge of tools like JIRA and Confluence is an advantage but not required

The projected compensation range for this position is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
