We will be accepting applications through March 20th.StatusNon-ExemptSummaryThe Product Quality Intern at Kia America, Inc. will support the Service Engineering team and work with key stakeholders in manufacturing, engineering, design, service and parts to help improve overall quality and meet customer expectations. The intern will contribute to the Kia America’s quality process to swiftly identify and resolve quality issues that affect Kia vehicles in North America. The intern will gain insight into the overall quality process by participating in operations with our stakeholders, field organization and dealer service partners.This internship is a 10-week, full-time opportunity at Kia America’s Irvine headquarters from June 2, 2025 through August 8, 2025. The position is hybrid with one remote day per week.Major Responsibilities
- Support in the testing and evaluation of Kia vehicles in order to:
- Ensure Kia production vehicles meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Confirm customer quality concerns reported through the field or internal data sources.
- Evaluate quality countermeasures and/or repairs to ensure effectiveness.
- Support in the investigation of part issues.
- Issue parts recovery requests and conduct part inspections.
- Develop investigative skills to evaluate parts to determine possible root cause.
- Understand and accurately describe part usage to document failure condition within a field quality report.
- Review data (Warranty, Tech Line cases and Customer Care).
- Identify emerging issues or trends that may be indicative of field concerns.
- Support and Issue Quality Reports.
- Develop the skills needed for technical writing and reporting.
- Understand communication tools and effective use of data reporting.
- Issue quality reports after review by supervisor and/or engineer.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed, as necessary.
Education/Certification
- Enrollment in or graduation from a bachelor’s degree program required.
- Preferred majors include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Automotive Technology.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Position requires driving Kia and competitor vehicles to evaluate vehicles.
Overall Experience
- Must be available for the full duration of the internship from June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025.
Directly Related Experience
- Experience working within an automotive repair environment preferred.
- SAE, ASE or other related organization membership/participation preferred.
- Exposure to writing within a technical environment a plus.
- Prior internship experience a plus.
- Interest in automobiles, repair or motorsports.
