As an intern, you will apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to identify solutions to challenges, be a thought partner to the region’s leadership core team, and have an opportunity to apply new processes, efficiencies, and data communication techniques. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2025 and will go to the end of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Regional Vice President, the Business Integration Director (South Region Core Team), and other region team leaders to support projects and meetings and implement new “test and learn” techniques
  • Assist with planning and implementing special projects related to solving problems/solutions as they arise to promote a nationwide culture, thereby serving as a liaison between the state offices and National HQ to enhance clearer communication channels
  • Some projects related to the internship will include but are not limited to, moderating/coordinating virtual/hybrid events/meetings, participating in volunteer engagement efforts/projects, and coordinating new opportunities to elevate how the South appears on social channels
  • Contribute to data analyses and write-up of findings to identify and address red flags, determine themed best practices, and/or integrate troubleshooting solutions as needed
  • Develop executive briefings and/or reports that will effectively transfer knowledge across the region
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to gain and transfer knowledge respective to the region’s issue focus areas and expand their understanding of communication processes

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Must be able to commit to the goals and priorities of AARP and willing to collaborate with others in the organizations around AARP priority issues
  • Be able to work well in virtual/remote environment
  • Technology proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Outlook, Teams)
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines and, at times, independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus

Hybrid Work EnvironmentAARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
